Branding the Future in China’s Tech Capital
In 2019, Shenzhen—China’s hub of tech innovation—hosted the inaugural Zero One Tech Festival, a large-scale public event dedicated to showcasing smart living technologies from around the world. Set in an abandoned glass factory on the outskirts of the city, the festival wasn’t just another conference; it was an immersive experience aimed at both industry insiders and everyday people. Bravo was invited to create the brand from the ground up—establishing the visual identity, environmental graphics, signage systems, and all supporting communications. Our task was to create a cohesive system that could transform an industrial shell into a future-forward destination. The design had to speak to Shenzhen’s global ambitions while remaining welcoming and intuitive. We developed a high-contrast visual language anchored in bold typography, dynamic layouts, and vibrant accents—bringing clarity and energy to an otherwise raw, cavernous space. From towering exterior banners to digital schedules and directional signage, every element contributed to a sense of movement and progress. The branding extended across physical and digital touchpoints, making the festival feel consistent and alive wherever it was encountered. But more importantly, it reframed how people related to technology—not as something cold or distant, but as something integrated, inspiring, and accessible. For a city building the future at full speed, Zero One became a brief but powerful pause—a space to see, feel, and imagine how tech might shape everyday life.
